Arctic Monkeys “AM” Worldwide Album Sales

The Sheffield group, now based in Los Angeles, have returned to the US Top 10 for the first time since 2007. Back in its first week, “AM” sold 157,329 copies. This effort makes “AM” the second fastest selling album of 2013 behind Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’.

One year later “AM” have sold 2 million copies worldwide (according to Mediatraffic website), a hard number to get on this days. It is not surprising the number of sales achieved, if we take look at the recent international charts, where the album still persists.

“AM is also in fact, the best selling album in the history of Arctic Monkeys in America, where it exceeded 500,000 copies the equivalent to gold. In the UK, “AM did not sell as much as Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” which achieved five times platinum. Nonetheless the record has doubled sales to Humbug” and Suck It and Seeon this country.

Much have contributed to this sucess the great quality of the album, as well the 6(!) singles taken from “AM”:

“R U Mine?” (Released: 27 February 2012)
“Do I Wanna Know?” (Released: 19 June 2013)
“Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” (Released: 11 August 2013)
“One for the Road” (Released: 9 December 2013)
“Arabella” (Released: 28 January 2014)
“Snap Out of It” (Released: 9 June 2014)
